California Women Senators, Assembly members Endorse Kevin de León for US SenatE

On Thursday, October, 26th, California State Senator Toni Atkins (D-San Diego), former Speaker of the California State Assembly; Senator Cathleen Galgiani (D-Stockton), chair of the Senate Agriculture Committee; Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson (D-Santa Barbara), chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, chair of the Joint Legislative Committee on Emergency Management, and chair of the Select Committee on Women, Work and Families;Senator Holly Mitchell (D-Los Angeles), chair of the Select Committee on Women and Inequality; Assemblymember Eloise Gómez Reyes (D-San Bernardino), chair of the Special Committee on Legislative Ethics;Assemblymember Lorena Gonzalez-Fletcher (D-San Diego), chair of the Appropriations Committee and chair of the Select Committee on Women in the Workplace; along with former Assemblymember and current Mayor of Chula Vista, Mary Salas (D-Chula Vista), and former Assemblymember Cindy Montañez (D-San Fernando) all endorsed Kevin de León for U.S. Senate.

California State Senator Kevin de León was elected by his colleagues to lead the Senate in 2014, making him the first Latino to hold that position in over a century. De León served four years in the California State Assembly before his election to the State Senate in 2010. He was the first in his family to graduate from high school, later earning a degree with honors from Pitzer College.
