LOS ANGELES, CA – As reported in an exclusive piece by La Opinión - Joe Sanberg, founder of CalEITC4Me and Working Hero PAC, has endorsed Kevin de León in his campaign for U.S. Senate.
“Kevin de León will be a passionate, effective champion for our shared mission to create a California where everyone can afford life’s basic needs,” said Joe Sanberg, founder of Working Hero PAC and CalEITC4Me. “That’s why the Working Hero PAC and I are enthusiastically endorsing Kevin’s campaign for U.S. Senate.
“There is much work to do. One of every five Californians live in poverty, and one of every two Californians couldn't afford a $400 surprise expense. Most Californians live with daily worry about a small health problem, a car breakdown or a busted pipe in their home that would send them into financial crisis.
“As a kid I saw the toll those experiences took on my own mother, who raised me by herself. That’s why the issue of alleviating poverty in California is very close to my heart. This is personal for me, and I know this is personal for Kevin de León, too. We will not rest until we end poverty in California.”
Born and raised in Southern California, Joe Sanberg is the founder of the nonprofit CalEITC4Me, which has combatted California’s 20% poverty rate by helping to triple the number of California families eligible to earn California’s Earned Income Tax Credit. CalEITC4Me also engages in outreach to ensure that all who are eligible for the EITC receive it. Earlier this year, Sanberg founded WorkingHero.org, an organization that seeks political solutions to change the conditions that keep 20% of Californians below the poverty line.
“What we need in California is an economy that works for everyone, not just the wealthy. Joe Sanberg has done incredible work to bridge the economic opportunity gap where stale, centrist policies fall short of providing every working family with the dignity and economic security they deserve,” de León said. “I am excited to fight alongside Joe Sanberg to secure Medicare for All, a $15 federal minimum wage, and a fully ratified Equal Rights Amendment. I am confident that, working together, we will win those battles.”
