FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Wednesday, April 18, 2018

LOS ANGELES, CA – Tom Steyer announced his endorsement of Kevin de León early this morning in an exclusive interview with the Los Angeles Times.  Responding to Steyer’s announcement, Kevin released the following statement:

"Tom Steyer and I first came together over our shared values; united by a desire to grow California’s economy by cleaning up our environment and creating good-paying jobs at the same time.  He is a good friend, a man of incredible integrity, and he doesn’t back down from a fight. That’s why I’m proud to have him standing with me in this race, and I look forward to continuing our work for the people of California.  Together we will set a new tone in Washington, D.C. to face the threat of climate change head-on, and beat back an Administration that treats our state with hostility.”

As President pro Tempore of the California State Senate, Kevin de León worked closely with Tom Steyer to advance and democratize California’s climate goals.  From the Clean Energy Jobs Act (Prop 39) to the Clean Energy Pollution and Reduction Act (SB 350) their work has created thousands of new jobs throughout the state, and put California on the path to a clean energy future.
