LOS ANGELES, CA – California’s hardworking families are tired of the Democratic leadership in Washington, D.C. whose uninspired, timid approach leaves our values exposed to countless attacks by a hostile Administration.  Further proof of that reality came today, when the California Nurses Association threw the full weight of their support behind State Senator Kevin de León.

Following their endorsement, Malinda Markowitz, RN, Co-President of the California Nurses Association released the following statement:

“At a time when 15 million Californians still have no health coverage, or pay for premiums and still can’t afford to get the medical care they need, Kevin de Leon demonstrated outstanding political courage and leadership in shepherding passage of SB 562 in the California Senate."

In 2017, Kevin de León voted “yes” on legislation to create a single-payer system in California.  He also voted in support of a measure to make drug pricing in the state more transparent, and redirected more than $500 million in tobacco-tax revenue to improve reimbursement rates for Medi-Cal providers.

On the eve of announcing his run for U.S. Senate, Kevin de León released the video “Kevin de León for U.S. Senate”.  To watch the video, click here or on the screenshot below.

California State Senator Kevin de León was elected by his colleagues to lead the Senate in 2014, making him the first Latino to hold that position in over a century.  Through his ambitious approach to policymaking, Senator de León has authored groundbreaking legislation on a variety of issues that have become national models. De León served four years in the California State Assembly before his election to the State Senate in 2010.
