FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Thursday, February 1, 2018

LOS ANGELES, CA – The working men and women of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Local 80 endorsed Kevin de León today in his run for United States Senate.  Their support voices an increasingly united perspective among labor organizations throughout the state, that as the next U.S. Senator from California, Kevin will not equivocate when it comes to representing their values.

Following their endorsement, Thom Davis, Business Manager of IATSE Local 80, released the following statement:

“The workers of IA-80 are proud to endorse Kevin de León for U.S. Senate.  He has always been a dogged advocate of working people in California, from raising the minimum wage to $15 to fighting for worker’s compensation reform.  In Washington, D.C., Kevin will continue to go the extra mile to protect our jobs and create new jobs for all Californians.”

Senator de León helped craft California’s Film & TV Tax Credit Program, which passed in 2014. Prior to that, jobs in the entertainment industry were being shipped out to places like Vancouver and New York.  Under the tax credit program, California’s entertainment industry has seen those critical jobs returned to the state, reuniting families and reigniting the industry.

On the eve of announcing his run for U.S. Senate, Kevin de León released the video “Kevin de León for U.S. Senate”.  To watch the video, click here or on the screenshot below.

California State Senator Kevin de León was elected by his colleagues to lead the Senate in 2014, making him the first Latino to hold that position in over a century.  Through his ambitious approach to policymaking, Senator de León has authored groundbreaking legislation on a variety of issues that have become national models. De León served four years in the California State Assembly before his election to the State Senate in 2010.
